Sunday 8th January 2012

A spirited fight-back by SAC after being 0-2 down at half-time to finish 2-2 against Jouy-en-Josas. An early goal from the visitors with a hooked shot through a crowded goalmouth, followed by a dipping free-kick from our own Dan Crowe, about which your corespondent will be having nightmares all week. Despite the scoreline, SAC continued to play well as a team and passed the ball about without creating too many chances. In the second half, and despite the opposition being able to rotate their players, SAC took the upper hand. A fine finish from Pascal concretised a run of through balls and five minutes from time Ian rolled back the years with a devastating shot from wide left of the area that lifted over the outstretched fingers of the Jouy keeper.

Fine performances all round and a warm welcome to Arnaud Escher, who we hope will be able to turn out for us as regularly as his hockey season allows. His midfield play held us together when we struggling at the start of the match. Seb Guillet played his best match so far for SAC and matched brother Paul's effort and commitment. Andy S and Laurent B had outstanding defensive performances, David V and Moheb K strung some fine passes together and the new slimline Jon Riches put himself about superbly going forwards.

As said, this fine performance was in spite of us only having 11 players and no opportunity to rotate the team as players tired.
